B2B Writer / Content Creator (Freelance)

Designalytics is seeking an experienced freelance B2B Writer / Content Creator with the option to transition to a full-time role in the future. This is a remote position with flexible hours.

What does Designalytics do?

Designalytics provides market research to leading brands to help them understand how their package designs are performing with consumers. We’re a fast-growing, fun startup that values versatility, open-mindedness, and skills over experience. If you’re an amazing writer who hasn't written for a business just like ours before, we’d still like to meet you.

The B2B Writer / Content Creator will be responsible for:

  • Writing monthly email newsletters for clients in specific consumer products categories about retail and package design trends relevant to them. This includes researching topics online and curating recent articles to find the most interesting information.

    • For example: in the flavored malt beverages category, which brands have recently launched new package designs? Is there a growing trend toward canned alcoholic beverages? Is this being driven by sustainability, usage occasions, or something else? How does seasonality affect in-store promotions? And so on...

  • Proofreading a variety of client deliverables, including research reports and newsletters.

  • Potentially assisting with the creation of marketing content (e.g., short “thought leadership” reports, blog posts, etc.).

Required:

  • At least three years of professional writing experience or an impressive writing portfolio.

  • Able to write amazing prose. Strong writing is a MUST.

  • A strong grasp of grammar (ideally familiar with AP style) and relentlessly detail-oriented when it comes to copy.

  • Comfortable finding and synthesizing content relevant to a specific topic and audience, and selecting the most interesting tidbits.

  • Able to tell a clear story—looking beyond simple facts to discern the “so what?” for a business audience and drawing connections between seemingly unrelated pieces of information (e.g., understanding how a trend in one product category might be relevant to a different category, etc.).

  • Confident, yet conversational writing voice (i.e., professional, but not stuffy).

  • Able to work in a fast-paced environment and reliably meet deadlines.

  • Comfortable interpreting data—and simplifying it when necessary—to tell an effective story.

  • A healthy sense of curiosity and willingness to learn new things.

Ideal, but not required:

  • B2B writing experience

  • Marketing experience

  • A basic understanding of graphic design principles/terminology

  • Subject matter expertise in market research and/or the consumer-packaged-goods industry

  • Photoshop and/or InDesign experience

  • Experience using email marketing software (e.g., Mailchimp, Hubspot, etc.)

Designalytics believes in paying great writers a competitive wage. Compensation is commensurate with experience.
