In 2020, we launched the Designalytics Effectiveness Awards in partnership with Dieline to recognize package redesigns that have been instrumental in driving brand growth. Unlike traditional design competitions, the judging process for these awards is entirely data-driven—based on sales performance in the marketplace, as well as rigorous quantitative consumer testing of each design evaluated.
This year, Designalytics reviewed hundreds of redesigns launched in the United States between July 2019 and 2021. We chose nine of the most compelling—ranging from long-standing, iconic brands to scrappy challengers in hotly-competitive categories—to illustrate just how impactful design can be. We've chronicled their stories in detail here because we've observed, over and over, that design success isn't random, as many in the industry have come to believe—it's predictable and repeatable.
